Rapid Air II, LLC is seeking a candidate for a Chief Pilot. The ideal candidate for this role will demonstrate previous experience in Part 91 Flight Operations, transporting and interacting with high-net-worth and VIP personnel. The ideal candidate possesses good analytical and organizational skills, is a motivated self-starter with the drive necessary to develop at a pace consistent with the Company’s flexible and changing environment. The position demands a meticulous approach with the ability to adjust to rapidly changing circumstances.
A type rating in Citation Sovereign XLS aircraft is highly desirable, as is international trip experience with over 3,500 hours. However, we are hiring the right person as a fit for our team and will consider professional captains that are type rated on other super and mid-sized corporate jets. Existing residence near the corporate facility in Grand Rapids, MI or the capability to relocate is required for this position. You will fly approximately 275 hours per year, which includes international travel.
Position Summary:
The Chief Pilot has direct responsibility for the safety of passengers and crew, and the comfortable, timely, and efficient operation of the aircraft. Ensures that all flight and ground operations comply with FAA and foreign regulations, and all policies and procedures specified in flight department operations documents. The position requires, but is not limited to, forecasted and real-time weather assessment, route and destination/alternate selection, advanced crew coordination and resource management, and tactical command of the overall flight mission.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing, supervising, and observing flight crew personnel to ensure compliance with Federal Regulations and company policies and procedures.
- Works within the Flight Department to maintain a culture of safety with efficient procedures that support customer service.
- Responsible for the tactical control of the flight, they remain key to safe conduct of the flight and the comfort of the passengers.
- Overseeing CAMP to ensure airplane is being scheduled for regular maintenance and maintenance required by the FAA
- Coordinate with the scheduling team to ensure proper scheduling of aircraft and pilots, as well as tracking of flights
- Maintain all record keeping, including those that FAA and the company requires
- Ensure aircraft documents, checklists, publications, and databases are continually up to date
- Ensure policies and procedures are followed and paperwork is submitted by crews in a timely and legible manner
- Checking weather, all applicable NOTAMs where available, and determining fuel, oil, and oxygen requirements.
- Determining the aircraft weight and balance.
- Ensuring that all flight planning requirements have been met.
- Completing an aircraft preflight and postflight inspection.
- Briefing the passengers.
- Managing the aircraft operation in accordance with approved procedures and aircraft limitations.
- Ensuring compliance with customs, immigration, and cabotage laws.
- Maintaining custody and care of disembarking passengers and crewmembers until accepted by the state of entry on international flights.
- Completing all postflight duties, including notification to the company of any deviation from the planned itinerary or overnight location.
- Recording flight times and aircraft defects.
- Delegates flight related duties to the SIC as appropriate.
- Complies with Flight Department Commitments as written.
- Conduct operations using SMS-based risk mitigation tools.
- Assists with selection and hiring of new crew members to include contract pilots.
- Ensures that flight crew members are properly trained and qualified for necessary operations and that training records are certified and current, including medical certificates, passports, and visas.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Must hold an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate ratings and be qualified to serve as Pilot-In-Command (PIC).
- FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- English Proficient.
- Valid U. S. Passport.
- Valid automobile Driver’s License.
- Minimum 2 years prior corporate flight operations experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- International travel and trip planning experience
- 3,500 minimum hours of flying experience in similar aircraft – Super Sized/Heavy Jet
Qualifications:
- Excellent supervisory and management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prepare and present briefings to senior company officials and subordinates.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organizational skills with an advanced ability to multi-task including flight operations, flight following, contracts, and logistics.
- Current knowledge of federal and local flight regulations. Must continuously update knowledge as changes are anticipated and/or implemented.
Flight Time Experience:
- 3500 hours Total Fixed Wing.
- 1500 hours Jet (Multi-engine).
- 1000 hours Pilot-in-Command.
- 500 hours in a similar type.
Job Requirements:
- Full time - Based on flight schedule, training, and collateral duty requirements.
- Business travel as necessary.
- Willingness to receive required vaccinations for domestic and international travel as part of job responsibilities.
