Schedule: Monday -Friday 3:00pm-11:00pm

Mission:

To prepare wax patterns for assembly or pattern finishing following the molding process; cleans, modifies, inspects, serializes and repairs wax patterns in accordance with quality standards. Cleans and restores complex parts which may require dimensional fixtures for pattern assembly.

Principal Accountabilities:

Cleaning

Objective: To complete cleaning and dimensional restoration as required on complex patterns to conform to visual and dimensional specifications on technique cards.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Removes and/or repairs all substandard surface irregularities to meet required surface tolerance requirements, using a variety of hand tools and materials.
  • Fills or patches negatives using paint wax, melted stock wax, hot pencils and other tools and materials.
  • Modifies patterns using various hand tools and wax materials.
  • Completes dimensional integrity restoration and plugging of holes per technique cards.
  • Inspects work (and rework parts-TBO only) for compliance with quality standards.

Serialization

Objective: To identify patterns with specified serial pads and numbers.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Stamps serial numbers directly into patterns or uses wax pads.

Repairing

Objective: To fix broken or damaged patterns and cores in order to restore product to dimensionally acceptable condition.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Replaces broken features by wax welding fragments back in place or by hand reconstruction of missing areas.
  • Fills voids and reforms damaged contours by attaching and shaping stock or pattern wax.

Safety

Objective: To take responsibility for and demonstrate safe work practices.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Adheres to plant and department safety rules.
  • Safely operates all equipment and tools.
  • Identifies and reports safety problems.
  • Maintains accurate records of work performed.
  • Meets all production and quality standards.

Other (marginal) Accountabilities:

  • Trains less skilled personnel as assigned.
  • Performs other tasks as directed.

  • Measuring devices (e.g. radius gage, etc.)

  • Hot plate
  • High intensity inspection light
  • Foam pads
  • Net sticks, abrasive scrubbing pads, cloth wipes and pipe cleaners
  • Torches
  • Pliers, clippers, scissors
  • Air hose

Training:

  • Training is provided on the job.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to read, follow and interpret written instructions on technique cards, code sheets or other written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. (addition, subtraction).
  • Ability to use simple to moderately complex measuring devices and fixtures.
  • Physical ability to perform the essential job functions.
