What does the role look like?

Join the Engineering Project Management team to lead the assigned engineering project team through all the activities for the design, development and qualification for R&D or new mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic products.

You will work closely with Program Manager within cross-functional teams to ensure the introduction of R&D or new products from proposal phase to series production.

This role requires a deep understanding of project management, development and manufacturing processes, and quality standards in the aerospace industry.

What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?

  • Project Management. Act as project technical focal point for the customer and all internal stakeholders. Lead assigned engineering project team from concept to series production, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budget, and quality targets. Work with department functional heads and manager to plan engineering resources in support of project scope and schedule.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration. Work closely with Program Manager and collaborate with operation functions to accomplish project schedule and completion of scope.
  • Risk Management. Identify and mitigate technical project issues. Proactively address potential issues, obstacles, and bottlenecks to ensure project success.
  • Quality Assurance. Conduct internal and external design reviews and ensure that all engineering activities are executed in compliance with all applicable standard work and procedures. Ensure compliance with relevant standards and customer requirements.
  • Supplier Coordination. Collaborate with Supply Chain to ensure timely delivery of components and materials required for prototypes production. Establish strong relationships with engineering items suppliers and drive supplier performance to meet project objectives. Manage and monitor the outsourced engineering activities.
  • Documentation and Reporting. Maintain accurate project documentation, including project plans, progress reports, and technical specifications. Prepare regular project status updates and present findings to the management team and key stakeholders.
  • Change Management. Capture all technical customer changes respect to the authorized project scope (requirements, schedule or scope changes) and estimate the cost and schedule impact associate to the implementation of the change.
  • Team Leadership. Provide leadership and guidance to project team members, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Motivate and inspire team members to achieve project goals and deliver exceptional results. Foster a collaborative environment that promotes knowledge sharing and teamwork.
  • Lessons Learning. Be active part of the lessons learned process aimed to collect lessons learned throughout the life of the project, collaborate to flow back learning into applicable Standard Work and procedures and to share lessons learned among engineering members.

What will you bring to the role?

  • Master degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • +3 years of proven experience in a technical role in design, development or validation and verification of mechanical or hydraulic components, preferably in an aerospace context.
  • +3 years of proven experience of successfully leading engineering projects team in delivering complex projects on time and within budget, preferably in an aerospace development context.
  • Good knowledge of project management techniques, including cost estimation, scheduling and risk management.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, demonstrating positive and collaborative attitude.
  • Solid organizational skills, including multitasking and time-management.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Good use of Microsoft Office Package and Project Scheduling Tools.
  • Fluent Italian and English (written and oral)
  • Availability to short travels between Italian sites and abroad

Desirable skills:  

  • Good knowledge of EVMS management.
  • PMP certification or relevant training
  • Driving license.
