The Aerial Journeyman Lineman will perform a variety of tasks related to the installation, repair, and maintenance of high voltage transmission lines using helicopters for access.
Responsibilities:
- Perform aerial construction and maintenance work on high voltage transmission lines using helicopters for access.
- Install, repair, and maintain transmission towers, poles, and associated hardware and equipment.
- String, splice, and terminate conductors and overhead ground wires.
- Install and maintain insulators, transformers, switches, and other electrical components.
- Conduct inspections and tests to identify and troubleshoot issues with transmission lines and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to established work practices.
- Work collaboratively with crew members, pilots, and other personnel to complete projects safely and efficiently.
- Operate specialized equipment and tools, including aerial lifts, cranes, and rigging gear, as required.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including job tickets, time sheets, and equipment maintenance logs.
- Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge of high voltage transmission line work and helicopter operations.
- Assist in fueling helicopters by following established procedures for safety and efficiency.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and positive attitude while representing the company to clients, regulatory agencies, and other partners.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, aircraft, vehicles, and all company equipment through diligent housekeeping practices.
- Serve as a responsible steward of company resources by promoting efficiency and conservation measures.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Journeyman Lineman Certification.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in aerial transmission linework.
- Proven experience performing helicopter-supported line maintenance, construction, and repairs.
- Strong knowledge of utility systems, high-voltage electricity, and safety procedures.
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and at significant heights.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with pilots, crew, and management.
- Physical fitness and the ability to lift, climb, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Able to lift and perform tasks that involve working on knees, bending, crouching, and reaching overhead repeatedly.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License with HAZMAT endorsement.
- Maintain DOT Medical Certificate for compliance with regulations of operating company vehicles.
- Capable of working flexible hours to support the needs of customers.
- Subject to overnight travel, based on the needs of customers.
- Maintain proficiency in software systems and processes.
- Participate in FAA Drug & Alcohol testing program
