Senior Manufacturing Engineer

About the Company & Role
Our client is a well-established, global engineering organisation with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, precision-engineered solutions across a range of industrial sectors.
Due to continued growth and investment, they are looking to appoint a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join their Huddersfield site. This is a key position within the manufacturing engineering team, focused on supporting production and assembly operations, improving manufacturing processes, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams including design, quality, and operations, playing a vital role in both day-to-day manufacturing support and longer-term continuous improvement and digitalisation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support and problem-solving expertise to manufacturing and assembly teams
- Act as the key interface between engineering and production
- Develop expertise in gear manufacturing processes (e.g. hobbing, shaping, grinding)
- Support design for manufacturability and participate in design reviews
- Lead PFMEA activities, including process mapping and risk mitigation
- Interpret and produce technical and manufacturing drawings
- Ensure manufacturing processes meet quality standards and requirements
- Drive continuous improvement across quality, cost, and delivery
- Design and implement tooling and manufacturing methods in line with safety regulations
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders such as suppliers and auditors
- Create work orders and technical documentation packs
- Support digital measurement and automation initiatives, including training colleagues
- Maintain awareness of heat treatment processes and their impact on manufacturing
About You
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in a manufacturing engineering role
- Strong knowledge of machining processes (turning, milling, boring)
- Ability to interpret and create technical drawings
- Good understanding of GD&T and measurement systems
- CNC programming experience
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP or similar)
- 2D/3D CAD capability
