The Quality Manager is responsible for leading Quality Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Quality Control to ensure product quality, customer satisfaction, and scalable operations. This role balances strategic system development with daily operational execution, including prioritization, escalation, and resolution of quality issues across production, engineering, and planning. The Quality Manager drives a proactive quality culture, ensures compliance with AS9100/ISO9001, and leads efforts to prevent defects at the source while maintaining delivery commitments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership
- Lead the Quality pillar of the organization by managing the strategic leadership of Quality Engineering, Quality Assurance and Quality Control.
- Foster company-wide culture of quality
- Ensure the department is staffed according to needs of the business, this will involve final approval on new hires.
- Create, maintain, and execute a plan for professional development for continuous improvement both personally, professionally, and for the department
- Supervision of Quality Department Leadership and QA & QE staff.
- Manage Quality Engineering
- Utilize engineering, PPAP and APQP principles to improve product quality, develop new products and processes, and identify and resolve quality problems.
- Ensure part quality standards are met at all stages of manufacturing according to specifications on internal and/or external engineering drawings
- Provide clear and timely communication to customers, vendors, and staff when discussing quality issues such as reporting findings on inspection reports, determining capability, understanding design intent, concessions, non-conformance, etc.
- Manage Quality Assurance
- Overseeing the QA processes to ensure that products or services meet established quality standards, including internal QMS, AS9100, ISO9001 and any other regulatory requirements that arise in customer requirements.
- Responsible for all functions of the Quality Assurance System
- Quality Manual development and upkeep
- Develop, as needed, work instructions, procedures, process maps, working forms, etc., to support the Quality System and bring it into full compliance with ISO 9001 and ASQ 9001 Standard requirements
- Collaborate with engineering to define QA standards
- Performing calibrations and developing calibration schedule
- Non-conformance and corrective actions
- Internal and external audits to prove system effectiveness
- Continual department improvement plan
- Full compliance of all required internal ERP/MRP processes daily
- Manage Strategic Level Quality Control
- Educate production and engineering teams on quality control issues to improve overall production quality
- Support and Mentor Quality Control Supervisor and Leads as needed mainly in strategic direction and ensuring they are flowing this direction down within the team.
