Job Description:
As a supervisor/manager, the selectee for this position will be eligible to receive a Manager Performance Incentive (MPI) provided eligibility requirements noted in agency policy are met. This position serves as a Middle Manager with the Flights Standards Training Management Branch.

Duties

The incumbent of this position manages the work of a large, multi-level organization through subordinate employees. Integrates work of multiple organizations to meet strategic goals of the organization and the FAA, participates in strategic planning for the FAA, and makes commitments (program, budget, etc.) for a major organization.

Directs the work of subordinate employees and/or managers for multiple organizational units/projects/programs and across multiple functions and/or disciplines within a major subdivision.

Manages and sets clear performance standards that promote accountability, a sense of individual responsibility, professionalism, and pride for organizational performance to subordinates. Ensures effective managerial work and work quality across all organizations, while maintaining team and individual wellbeing. Responsible for the leadership, planning, prioritizing, direction, communication, tasking, training, and scheduling of work.

Makes effective resourcing decisions across several work teams; making certain they deliver expected output within required time frame and budget. Adjusts resourcing plans as needed to meet changing work conditions. Manages budget and reallocates resources among organizational projects/programs, or requests additional resources, as needed. Performs critical aspects of the budget planning process, including projecting short-term and long-term future needs and justifying resource requirements. Is accountable of all assigned office equipment.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-J, FG/GS-14 level.

Specialized Experience is all of the following:

  • Experience developing workforce training standards and processes;
  • Experience implementing training management systems, learning technology and tools; and
  • Experience with resource planning and budget development.
