Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) is responsible for ensuring our products are Safe, Reliable, Maintainable and delivered on time. Life Cycle Engineering consists of multiple disciplines that support engineering, our program offices and our customers. Our Life Cycle Engineering disciplines participate in the total life cycle of our products from conception to deactivation. Our focus area is product support, including the following disciplines: Reliability System Safety and Supportability.
What You Will Do:
As a Sr. Principal Affordability Lead you’re responsible for influencing the affordability of various systems and products throughout their life cycle. In this role, you’ll develop affordability solutions as the program lead of a cross-functional team, supporting both pre-production, production and sustainment affordability efforts. You’ll directly support the Program Manager and Chief Engineer, acting as the focal point for guiding the Raytheon Affordability Process.
Your Key Responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing affordability solutions across multiple categories of systems and products.
- Leading a cross-functional team to support front-end (Design/Development & Production) and post-production affordability efforts.
- Serving as the primary point of contact for the Raytheon Affordability Process for the Program Manager and Chief Engineer.
- Communicating accurately and concisely, working effectively with a wide range of individuals and engineering disciplines.
- Presenting to various levels of management, from individual contributors to senior leadership.
Additional Responsibilities will include:
- Providing decision-makers with information to implement holistic solutions.
- Understanding the system-of-systems nature of a product/system throughout its life cycle.
- Converting functional disciplines into a common denominator of cost.
- Measuring cost vs. risk across the product life cycle, including:
- Design and Development Analysis
- Production Analysis
- Sustainment – Operations & Support (Afterspanet)
This job is posted as ONSITE, and is based at Raytheon’s McKinney, TX facility.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant Finance, Cost Engineering, Project or Program Management experience. An advanced degree may account for additional years of experience as required for this position.
- Experience with accounting, financial analysis
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Predicting cost using tools such as CASA, PRICE TruePlanning, ACE-IT, SEER, or similar tools.
- Experience with at least one of the following costs estimating model tools: OPUS Suite, Extend SIM, COMPASS, SEER, or PRICE SYSTEMS LLC
- Experience developing cost estimates across the Product Life Cycle.
- Experience in the development of Business Case Analyses, providing a position, and supporting the position to a wide audience
- Knowledge of DoD/Government Finance /Business / Auditing
- Ability to write VBA in MS Excel and C program language
- Experience in Manufacturing environment
- Experience with DoD Miliary Requirements and General Understanding of the FAR
- Ability to work independently and to deliver accurate documentation under deadline pressures

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
