What you can expect as a Quality Control Manager at West Star:

This position is responsible to the General Manager for the overall operation of the Quality Control Department and will have the final authority in the release to service of airframes, engines, propellers, appliances and the component parts thereof. In addition, the QC Manager is responsible for directing, planning, and laying out the details of inspection standards, methods, and procedures used by the repair station in complying with all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, manufacturers specifications and recommendations.

You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS including:

  • Supervise, mentor, and guide team members of the Quality Department, foster a positive work environment, encourage teamwork, and enhance skills through on-the-job training and performance coaching
  • Participate in hiring and disciplinary matters while conducting quarterly performance assessments and feedback
  • Liaise with the local FAA as required to ensure the repair station continues compliance with the FAA regulations.
  • Assure that all inspections are properly performed on all completed work and that the proper inspection records, reports, and forms used by the repair station are completed and executed prior to releasing the product for return to service.
  • Determine that all technical data on articles overhauled or repaired by the repair station are kept current with latest revisions.
  • Assure that periodic checks are made on all inspection tools and the calibration of precision equipment used by the repair station.
  • Guide the final acceptance of all incoming material, including new parts, supplies, and the airworthiness of articles on which work has been performed outside the repair station.
  • Assure that the proper inspection records, reports, and forms used by the repair station are available to all inspection personnel.
  • Assure that the responsible technician properly executes complete entries on forms and work orders used by the repair station.
  • Assure that procedures used in procurement and reception of aircraft parts will guard against "bogus" and "unapproved" parts from entering the parts system and to ensure that any such parts are detected before their use.
  • Ensure that proper entries are made into maintenance logs & work orders.
  • Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English
  • Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
What you’ll need to bring with you:

Your Education:
A High school diploma or equivalent.
A&P license required.
Inspector Authorization (IA) rating is recommended.
A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not required.

Your Experience:
Computer literacy in word processing and spreadsheets.
Read electrical and structural prints recommended.
Customer service experience recommended.

Your Initiative:
We’re looking for team players who are self-motivated and able to perform in a fast-paced environment where working under specific deadlines and time constraints will be common. Being detail oriented, maintaining accuracy and communicating clearly both written and verbally will be needed for success.

Your Sense of Responsibility:
Enter data and complete entries with high degree of accuracy.
Coordinate projects and maintain schedules as required.
Ensure good communication with management and personnel on all data needs.
Follow all company rules and FAA regulations during performance of duties.
Maintain customer oriented work habits for oneself and the department.
Actively work to maintain work order system current.

Other particulars:

Physical Requirements
Lift and carry at least 25 lbs.
Bend, reach and stoop when around aircraft.
Sit at desk and / or computer for extended intervals.
Routinely walking short distances.

Mental Requirements
Prioritize and control workload of self and department.
Work with others in a professional manner.
Work with new or upgraded computer systems.
Work with FAA personnel in interpretation and communication of regulations

Supervision
Work under supervision of assigned Team Leader and Accessory Program Manager

Working Conditions
The majority of work will be accomplished in a heated hangar or shop area.
Varied positions around components.

Equipment Used
Air equipment, polisher and sander.
Stripper pump, electrostatic paint guns, pressure posts, wand and laser level.
Other engine powered equipment and hand tools.
