Role Summary
The Manager Financial Systems plays a key role in developing strategic priorities and ensuring tactical execution of finance-related technology tools used by Alaska Air Group (AAG). As a people leader, this position leads and establishes priorities that support financial systems including revenue, fuel, treasury, tax, materials, financial reconciliation and reporting, and multiple internal and external interfaces. This role serves as the subject matter expert in financial system best practices and effectively communicates these insights to stakeholders.
Key Duties
Strategy Development:
Manages the design, development, implementation, maintenance, and support of a portfolio of financial systems, ensuring integration with essential business systems within finance and supply chain (e.g., revenue accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and financial reporting).
Develops the finance system strategy and recommends a long-term plan for improving efficiency and customer satisfaction by upgrading, replacing, and enhancing systems, including potential transitions to vendor-managed platforms, while acting as a primary contact for all process reengineering related projects.
Recommends outsourcing or insourcing systems and gains support and sponsorship from key leaders.
Operations/Administration:
Leads teams of direct and indirect reports with broad expertise to improve financial system performance management.
Manages the change request process, production implementations, backlog prioritization, and quality assurance for major finance division systems while collaborating with stakeholders to fulfill reporting requirements.
Drives accounting consistency through the standardization of data sets.
Streamlines system reporting and the period-close process, ensuring data integrity between main systems and interfaces.
Partners with leaders in IT, finance, and supply chain management to ensure alignment of projects with finance system strategy architecture.
Manages the development of user procedures, guidelines, and documentation ensuring continuous compliance.
Partners with leaders in accounting to ensure appropriate internal controls exist and are documented for the technology applications and processes.
Stakeholder Relationship Management:
Develops strong relationships with key internal customers by listening, understanding needs, defining shared objectives, proactive consulting, and collaboration.
Leads a team to deliver cost-effective training.
Prepares business case justifications and analyzes the impact of solution(s) while developing and recommending timelines and budgets.
Maintains transparency by appropriately communicating information (e.g., division and department meetings, one-on-one meetings).
Ensures communication and processes with business unit customers are consistent throughout the team and aligned with accounting and program objectives.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required
5 years in a PeopleSoft functional analyst or similar role.
2 years of experience building and leading cross-functional teams.
A Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree with a focus in finance, economics, accounting, information technology, business administration, or a related discipline.
Possess a blend of technical and business acumen (e.g., big picture vision and the drive to make it a reality).
Experience in project and change management.
Excellent strategic, organizational, interpersonal, leadership and customer service skills.
Proven analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills with a track record of leveraging information systems to drive process improvements.
Ability to produce timely and accurate results while managing multiple, concurrent tasks.
Works effectively in a collaborative environment with project teams, leadership, and end-users.
Experience partnering with internal/external auditors on the establishment and review of internal controls for a publicly traded company.
High energy and a positive presence, along with top-notch written and verbal communication skills.
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements, Payment Card Industry (PCI) data security standards, and/or federal and state tax and labor reporting requirements.
Airline industry experience.

Salary Range
$113,200 - $169,800 / year
Salary Details
Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
