Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector is seeking a Manager, Team Leader 1 to join our growing team of diverse professionals at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.   The selected candidate will lead and work with general guidance from functional management, providing team leadership to a customer-focused team or group of teams committed to increased quality and productivity.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of specialized exercise database, terrain, parametric, and functional testing experts tasked with creating simulation requirements for Army Mission Command Training Exercises.
  • In accordance with organization goals, provides direction on activities and behaviors to increase morale.
  • Motivates team members and facilitates team meetings.
  • Cultivates and reinforces appropriate group values, norms, and behaviors.
  • Identifies and analyzes problems, plans, tasks, and solutions.
  • Provides guidance to team on development, performance, and productivity issues.
  • Monitors team inventory and budget and ensures proper use of assets, pay, awards, and bonuses.
  • Represents the team, presenting team suggestions and recommendations on processes and procedures in accordance with organization cost, quality, and productivity goals.
  • Focus and establishes priorities for Government software maintenance while interfacing with both the client and Northrop Grumman.
  • Advocates for the team’s resource needs (hardware, software, supplies, etc.) with both the client and Northrop Grumman.
  • Obtains and maintains a general understanding of the simulation environment, systems, and tools used and supported by Tech Support as a whole and his/her team in particular.
  • Leverages experience in group processes and dynamics
  • Reports to functional and/or organization management on team accomplishments, achievements, and productivity.
  • Works closely with customers through planning conferences, progress reviews, and one-on-one meetings to identify exercise scenario requirements.
  • Communicates with Technical and Operations staff regularly to ensure data integrity and security.
  • Meets regularly with military, civilian, and contractor customers to ensure updated data requirements are met for each event and that digital data collection is integrated into the MCTP  After-Action Review (AAR) structure.
  • Collects data from multiple sources before and during MCTP exercises
  • Builds digital structures that facilitate sharing of desired information in a collaborative  environment and identifies means to improve the collection and dissemination of information.
  • Studies Army organizations and maintains current knowledge of Joint and Army doctrine as it relates to Mission Command.
  • Analyzes customer problems and investigates data available for analysis.
  • Meet all administrative due-outs assigned by manager and contractual requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • One of the following:
    • High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 9 years of professional and/or military leadership experience
    • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of professional and/or military leadership experience
    • Master’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of professional and/or military leadership experience
  • Must be able to work on-site at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas
  • Must be able to travel as needed (up to 50 of the time)
  • Must have an active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree
  • MEL 4 Military Experience
  • Knowledge of and firsthand experience with Army organizations and or Army constructive models and simulations with Brigade or higher staff experience
  • Experience with Software Development and Project Management
  • Experience with Quality Assurance-focused operations
  • Experience with Cybersecurity and RMF principles
  • Experience with U.S. Army Force Structure Compositions and Hierarchies
  • MS Office Suite (Teams, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access, SharePoint, One Note, etc.) operational proficiency
  • Experience with the Army’s Mission Command Training Program (MCTP) or like Mission Training Complex operations.
Salary Range: $74,600 - $112,000
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
