The Category Lead is responsible for achieving the Lowest Total Cost of Acquisition for the allocated category focusing on the key areas of Quality, Cost, Delivery, Innovation and Risk. Working with key internal stakeholders to develop and deploy Category Strategies and leading Supplier Relationship Management. Implementation of Long Term Agreements to leverage group spend and drive contract compliance.

Essential Responsibilities
Safety
- Must comply with relevant Environment, Health and Safety legislation and company policies, procedures and safe working systems
- Ensure a safe working environment & practices are maintained and compliance to site HSE standards
- Will complete and authorise risk assessments, COSHH assessments, manual handling assessments and CAR reports
- Responsible for completing all accident investigations and approving appropriate actions
- Perform visual inspection of work area to obtain a 6S score daily and ensure the work area is maintained to 6S standards
Quality
- Developing and implementing sourcing strategy as well as driving savings/best value on large complex projects
- Manage key supplier relations delivering performance in cost, service, and quality including complex jobs
- Lead negotiations and contracting RFQs and tenders for specific allocated projects
- Support and lead Category Buyer in the implementation of Category strategy
- Analytical support in the form of spanet data and competitive reviews providing insights on category opportunities, pricing and promotional strategy
- Work with the product streams team to provide support material for the existing portfolio and for the launch of new products as necessary
- Present proposals to improve existing portfolio and/or product profitability
- Undertake Ad hoc spanet research set-up, implementation and analysis as necessary
- Implement strategies to deliver targeted benefits and forecasted financial savings
- Design and deliver against performance measures, including supply, cost and quality
- Assist in investigating opportunities for broader savings and reductions, along with establishing new processes and systems across the company
- Produce regular reports on supplier performance consisting of cost analysis and potential savings for forecast and budgets
- Liaise and develop clear communication with production regarding stock takes and expected delivery information
- Ensure purchase orders are complete and accurate, whilst expediting overdue purchase orders
- Work alongside the Product and Innovation team to achieve margin, technical and brand targets
- Provide support and guidance to the Category Buyer and Supply Chain team

Position Requirements
Essential Criteria:
- Minimum of 5 GCSE or equivalent including Maths & English.
- Good verbal and written communication (passed numeracy & literacy exam)
- Excellent vision requirements (passed vision exam)
- 3 - 5 years Procurement experience or equivalent in a customer facing role
Desirable Criteria:
- Working towards Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) qualification
