POSITION SUMMARY
Prepare, maintain, inspected, and document aircraft seats to perform initial and continuous requirements to meet customer, regulatory and corporate needs.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish and evolve formal QA processes, ensuring that the team is using industry-accepted best practices.
- Oversee all aspects of quality assurance including establishing metrics, applying industry best practices, and developing new tools and processes to ensure quality goals are met.
- Act as key point of contact for all QA aspects of releases, providing QA services and coordinating QA resources internally and externally.
- Lead and mentor QA team members, as well as manage outside contract testers.
- Point of Contact between Contracts on Quality Issues during Customer Deliveries.
- Manages Customer Inspection List identifying RCCA and assigning responsibility
- Perform pre and post inspection per established procedures.
- Maintain documentation per establish requirements.
- Follow standard inspection procedures, drawings, and specifications; check sheets and other written or oral instructions to perform any final assembly inspection requirements.
- Check out aircraft seats for satisfactory completion of all controls for proper operation and safety; physical installation of electrical and electronic systems and components for proper operation; installation of revised or altered assemblies; and completeness in detail of all other related systems and components requiring final check out.
- Independently perform comprehensive inspection of new, production or derivative models and determine course of remedial action as required solving complex production/inspection difficulties.
- Inspect completed seats to Embraer requirements.
- Complete necessary paperwork from aircraft seats final assembly completion and release to operations.
- Assist Logistics in resolving old or lost rejections.
- Work with adjoining manufacturing and inspection units to resolve discrepancies at point of origin.
- Must be familiar with FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) regulations and contractual specifications for each model.
- Check for completeness in detail of all other related systems and components requiring final check out.
- Maintain current record of deviations (discrepancies), and document non-conforming product due to workmanship or defective materials in accordance with current Non-Conforming Material Rejection Procedures.
- Inspect assemblies and installations not previously completed (carry forward) due to parts shortages, Engineering design changes or rework.
- Perform similar Final Assembly inspections on derivative seats.
- Verify latest drawing revisions are incorporated into assemblies and installations and interface as required with Engineering and other departments as necessary on problems related to drawings, operation sheets, etc.
- Direct and instruct lower grade inspectors as required.
- Maintain Certifications as required to perform duties.
- Utilize Electronic Operation Sheet System (MES) for accountability of all assembly operations and test requirements.
- Utilize electronic Non-Conforming Material Rejection Report System for parts rejection.
- Perform detail specification checks and other related inspection duties as directed.
- Refer questionable conditions or recurring difficulties to working leader or supervision.
- As required segregate waste material and comply with all EH&S practices.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education:
- An Associate Degree or Technical Certification is common at this level but not absolutely required.
- Must maintain current certification as required for skill level in occupational group.
Experience:
- Generally at least 8 years of experience in area of responsibility
- Advanced Technician Role, requiring Advanced Skills to perform all standard tasks within the Technical Area assigned to.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Assignments require Comprehensive Knowledge of all possible tasks and responsibilities within their Technical Area. •
- Skills are broadly applied in multiple Technical Areas.
- Knowledge of aircraft inspection procedures, manufacturing operations, and assembly and installation procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret complicated drawings, use precision measuring instruments, follow engineering orders and instructions, and interpret specifications according to inspection practices.
