Job Description:
STS Aviation Services, the UK’s leading MRO, is seeking an experienced Lead B2 Aircraft Mechanic to join our growing team in Birmingham. As a key player within our Military Division, you’ll supervise a skilled team of avionics technicians, coordinating tasks to ensure safe, efficient, and timely project completion. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic organization where you’ll make a significant impact on our military program. Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and lead a team of avionics technicians, fostering a culture of safety and efficiency.
  • Coordinate production and modification programs, ensuring smooth task flow and adherence to timelines.
  • Serve as the focal point for avionics-related activities, reporting on progress to licensed engineers and line managers.
  • Perform comprehensive avionics and electrical work, including:
    • Wiring terminations and testing.
    • Removal and installation of shelves, panels, and equipment.
    • Loom manufacturing and testing.
    • System testing for quality assurance.
Skills and Abilities Required Experience
  • Completed an engineering apprenticeship (Aeronautical or military equivalent preferred).
  • Minimum of 12 years of aircraft experience, with background in aircraft production and modifications.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Strong hands-on skills with expertise in Avionics systems.
Other Essential Skills
  • Experience working on military aircraft.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with MS Office applications.
  • Reliable, adaptable, and a natural leader capable of managing and inspiring a team.
  • Eligibility to live and work in the UK.
  • Must be able to pass UK Security Vetting.
MRP145 Training Requirements
  • Human Factors: Initial and continuation training.
  • SFAR (Special Federal Aviation Regulation): Initial phases 1 & 2 and continuation training.
  • EWIS (Electrical Wiring Interconnection System): Group 1 & 2, including practical training.
  • Other Requirements: ETOPS (Extended Twin Operations), RVSM (Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum).
