Job Title: Journeyman Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanic (Aviation Experience Required)
Pay: $40-50/hour
Shift: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Job Description:
We are looking to hire an experienced Journeyman Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanic for an exciting Aircraft Restoration role. This position will focus on the restoration of WWII Warbird airframe components, requiring strong hands-on skills in metal forming, welding, and aircraft tear-down and rebuild. A&P license is preferred but not required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Aircraft Restoration: Perform sheet metal repairs and fabrication of new parts based on original components, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
- Metal Forming & Spot Welding: Utilize advanced metal forming techniques and spot welding to restore aircraft components.
- Part Fabrication & Repair: Fabricate replacement parts from original parts, focusing on precise rebuilding and restoration.
- Assembly & Disassembly: Hands-on work in true assembly and disassembly of aircraft components.
- Material Knowledge: Experience with 2024 aluminum forming, annealing processes, and metal bending equipment beyond basic brake and press.
- Riveting Expertise: Journeyman-level expertise in riveting, disassembly, and component restoration.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Aviation Sheet Metal Mechanic: Must have direct experience in aircraft sheet metal work—automotive or non-aviation experience is not applicable.
- Hands-on Metalworking: Strong skills in metal forming, spot welding, and aircraft repair.
- Blueprint & Engineering Drawing Interpretation: Ability to read and understand engineering drawings for precise fabrication.
- Tool Proficiency: Must have own set of hand tools.
- Attention to Detail: Precision and quality are critical in restoring aircraft components.
- Warbird Experience: Preferred, but not required.
Additional Preferred Skills:
- Aircraft Hydraulics & Electrical Systems: Any experience is a plus.
- Aircraft Painting, Fabric, or Final Assembly: Knowledge in these areas will be beneficial but is not required.
