Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

- Checks with forge department production schedule and travelers to determine which forging operation requires hot inspection.
- Reviews forge drawings of the jobs requiring hot inspection to determine required dimensions and mismatch allowance. Makes notes of the information.
- Inspects parts and checks required dimensions and mismatches against blueprint requirements using measuring devices, tape, steel rule, calipers and micrometers.
- Notifies the forge leadman and/or blacksmith of any problems. Also notifies supervisor of discrepancies in dimension and surface condition.
- Completes Daily Production Reports to report time against jobs.
- Works with forge crews to insure meeting dimensional requirements.

Experience & Education
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical pars, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
