What the position is:
The Aircraft Tire Shop Technician will maintain and repair aircraft wheels including replacement of worn tires with new. While preferred, this position does not require any previous aviation maintenance experience. The Aircraft Tire Shop Technician will work under the supervision of a Certificated Technician on various aircraft maintenance tasks.
Essential functions:
- Perform maintenance work on company aircraft wheels and tires at our IAH maintenance base shop including but not limited to dismantling, repairing, assembling all aircraft wheels and tires and components
- Complete all necessary paperwork in accordance with company, manufacturer, and FAA requirements
- Maintain work area, and tools in clean and safe working conditions
- Ensure hazardous materials storage is frequently inspected and ensure proper labeling, containers, and location in accordance with company and regulatory requirements
General requirements & qualifications:
- Must be 18 years or older
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid unrestricted driver’s license
- Good driving record and ability to drive tugs, trucks, and hangar equipment; taxi aircraft; alert to moving vehicles and aircraft
- Candidate must be mechanically inclined
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written
- Good communication skills (verbal, written, and radio)
- Positive attitude towards productivity, safety, and quality maintenance
- Available to work all shifts and overtime if necessary
- Ability to lift and maneuver up to 70lbs, bend, stoop, crawl, and kneel frequently in confined spaces
Physical Requirements:
Medium Work- Exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force consistently to move objects. Includes extended periods of standing and moving about on foot regularly.
- Ability to reach, bend, crouch, kneel, and move about in small spaces.
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs occasionally.
Visual Acuity:
Machine operators with inspection-Includes inspection, close assembly, clerical administrative; This is a minimal standard for use with those whose work deals largely with preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting, computer, extensive reading, visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, operation of machines using measuring devices, assembly, or fabrication of parts
Environmental Conditions:
- Both indoor and outside environmental conditions; activities occur inside and outside. May be exposed to extreme temperatures occasionally.
- Able to work in a loud, noisy environment at times. PPE may be required.
