Amentum is hiring a qualified Aircraft Mechanic I in support of Kadena Air Base, 18th EMSS.

Aircraft Mechanics I must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions. Makes repairs to aircraft and follows direction of higher graded workers. The Aircraft Mechanic I troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti- icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems. This mechanic repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills. This worker reads and interprets manufacturers and airlines maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Work involves replacing or repairing worn or damaged components, such as carburetors, alternators, magnetos, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, and engine mounted gearboxes, and compressor bleed valves using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment; removing engine from aircraft, using hoist or forklift truck, disassembling and inspecting parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects, and repairing or replacing defective engine parts and reassembles and installs engine in aircraft. Job duties require that this mechanic adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories, performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes. Supervises the jacking and towing of aircraft, enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily, service engines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition, specialize in work, repair and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies, and specialize in engine repair. May be required to be licensed by Federal Aviation Administration. May require specialization in sheet-metal, electric work, avionics or other aircraft systems related disciplines.  Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) licensing of contractor employee technical proficiency is not required.

Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

PHYSICAL/WORKING ENVIROMENT:

Requires shift work and a diversity of working conditions that may range from standard shop type environment where there may be no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes in temperature, direct sunlight, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work where high noise hazards prevail. Will be required to wear protective clothing and other safety equipment during periods of extreme hot and cold temperatures. Exposure to high intensity noise levels, extreme changes in temperature, materials identified on the Material Safety Data Sheets, working on or around aircraft and machinery. Aircraft flight line, hangars, and maintenance shops. Able to physically operate aircraft ground servicing equipment including vehicles, tugs, tractors, and high-pressure soap and water systems.

Minimum Requirements:

* Must have an Active Secret US Government Clearance. (Note: US Citizenship is required to maintain a Secret Clearance.)

* May be required to complete a SF-85/86 in EQIP as required to maintain possession of a CAC card. Unfavorable background check may result in termination if determination is made you are not eligible for a CAC card.

* Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

* Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks.

* High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

* Three (3) years Aviation maintenance experience.

* Must be computer literate; the ability to operate and use a computer to enter work details, pass downs, measurements, and various other inputs is required.

* Must have basic knowledge of (TMDE) test, measurement and diagnostic equipment including tools such as torque wrenches, dial indicators and micrometers.

* Must have a thorough knowledge of mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts.

* Must have knowledge of the scope and limitation of various categories of maintenance and their application to the contract unit.

* Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects.

* Must know theory and principles of engine operations; accessories and components; pneudraulic; and mechanical principles.

* Must be able to read, interpret and use manufacturer’s maintenance manuals, service bulletins, blueprints, schematic diagrams, data tables and other specifications to determine feasibility and method to repair or replace malfunctioning or damaged components.

* Must be able to work all assigned shifts & schedules.

* Must have a US Passport.

* Must be able to speak, read and write English.
