Aviation Maintenance Technician
Job Description:

Inspects and repairs University’s aircraft fleet. Support of flight in compliance with Federal Aviation Administration regulations and the maintenance department’s policies and procedures.

Major Duties    

  • Inspects aircraft, including engine, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and structural systems.
  • Records and documents work performed in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration regulations, Including Airframe and Powerplant license numbers.
  • Repairs aircraft and supporting systems.
  • Taxies aircraft and performs aircraft engine operational checks.
  • Supports students through their aviation maintenance department internships.
  • Looks after maintenance shop and shop equipment.
  • Accomplishes preventative maintenance to aircraft and systems.
  • Executes online maintenance tracking systems to support aircraft.
  • May hire, train, evaluate and supervise student employees.


Minimum Qualifications    

  • Completion of training program through a Federal Aviation Administration certificated Aviation Maintenance Technical School, or equivalent combination
  • of experience in the field through on the job training.
  • One year’s relevant experience.
  • Experience in general aviation inspection repair and maintenance.
  • Federal Aviation Administration airframe and powerplant certificate.


Desired Qualifications    

  • FAA private pilot certificate
  • Cirrus, Piper and Cessna aircraft experience
  • Lycoming and Continental Motors experience

Pay is commensurate with qualifications and experience, combined with an excellent benefits package.
