Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions
The M&P Laboratory Technician is responsible for execution of aerospace composite materials testing, procedures, and processes, as well as the performance of some data analysis, and mechanical testing on servo-hydraulic and / or electro-mechanical load frames. This Level 4 Technician role will also provide input into test plan creation and testing methodologies and will be a pivotal part of the Cirrus Materials & Processes Structures Team.
- Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
- Ability to layup, bond, and assemble composite materials using a variety of mediums including prepregs and wet layup, and different material types including carbon fiber, fiberglass, and adhesives.
- Proficient in the use of specifications, drawings, and verbal instructions to build and fabricate composite test panels
- Strong creative mind that excels at solving problems and can successfully collaborate with a wide audience during the development of new technologies and designs.
- Knowledge of, or ability to learn to use laboratory equipment such as load-frames, strain gauges, extensometers, microscopes, cure ovens, fume hoods, composite layup tooling, relevant software, etc.
- Follow all safety standards and policies and ensure a safe operating environment, including use of appropriate protective equipment and identification of potential safety concerns.

- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in a mechanical and / or chemical testing lab is required; load frame experience is desired. Official training or certifications as a mechanical testing load frame operator and test program writer is highly desired.
- A solid understanding of how to fabricate and apply a wide variety of tools including hand tools and precision measurement tools is required. Experience with composite layup and basic machining is preferred.
- Industry certificates considered a plus, including but not limited to ASTM Aerospace/Aircraft Assembly (AAA) NCAAT, FAA Aircraft Structural Repair / Maintenance Technician, or NACE Corrosion Technician certificate.
- A two-year Associates degree in Composites Technology is desired, but not required.
- Technician Level at hire (1, 2, 3, or 4) will be assessed based on directly relevant and overall work experience.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen.
- Preference will be given to candidates actively pursuing an engineering degree.
