At Prestwick Service Centre we are specialists in the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of aircraft engine nacelles systems and engine components. An opportunity has arisen for a Tooling Design Engineer to work within our Engineering Team. This is a site-based role.

Role Overview:

We require experienced individuals who will contribute to our success, whilst upholding our reputation as a leading provider of quality MRO services with our European and Middle Eastern customers.

The Tooling Engineer will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following: -

  • Design of Tooling and Lifting equipment to support all aspects of the manufacture, repair and design change, to support the overhaul of nacelle systems and other components

  • Carry out the calibration of Tools and Lifting equipment using laser tracking equipment

  • Ensure all tooling meets requirements of the MRO / OEM / Type Certificate Holder and regulatory agencies

  • Relationship building and liaising with various areas of the business and with Tooling subject matter experts based in our California headquarters

  • Liaise with manufacturers and co-ordination in the procurement tooling

  • Assist in the creation of capital expenditure plans and justifications

  • Compliance with all Collins policies and procedures inclusive of EH&S, Code of Ethics, Intellectual Property and Global Trade Compliance requirements

Essential Skills:

  • The candidate shall be an experienced Tooling Engineer with a relevant Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering Qualification; a relevant degree would be advantageous

  • The successful candidate shall be computer literate with experience of MS Office and Computer Aided Design, ideally CATIA v5 and AutoDesk / AutoCAD.

  • We are looking for someone who can interrogate and understand 2D and 3D design packages

  • Candidates should be able to work in a fast-paced environment, working to targets and deadlines and have a proven track record in relationship building, computer literacy, report writing, organisation skills, team working and open two-way communication.

Desirable Skills:

  • Although having a background in Aerospace would be preferred, consideration will also be given to candidates with tooling design and transferable skills within a similar industry  

  • Composite and metallic structures experience would be advantageous
