STS Engineering Solutions is hiring a remote Systems / Avionics Engineer to provide expedient engineering support to our clients. This role involves daily liaison engineering, including repair design, analysis, calculations, drawings, and certification. Key Responsibilities
- Engineering Support: Provide rapid engineering support for line and check aircraft, developing repair schemes to address structural discrepancies.
- Design & Analysis: Develop repair designs, perform structural analyses, and produce supporting calculations, ensuring compliance with applicable FAA regulations.
- Customer Communication: Act as the main point of contact for customers throughout the development of structural repairs/modifications, defining needs, timelines, and deliverables.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Demonstrate strong understanding and application of FARs (Federal Aviation Regulations), Service Bulletins (SBs), Airworthiness Directives (ADs), and Advisory Circulars.
- OEM Data Utilization: Utilize OEM technical data, including Engineering Drawings, Structural Repair Manuals, Illustrated Parts Catalogs, and Aircraft Maintenance Manuals, to develop accurate repair schemes.
- Alternate Materials and Processes: Determine alternate materials and processes to meet design, weight, safety, and reliability requirements.
- Project Updates: Provide status updates on engineering work progress as required by management.
- Availability: Willingness to work weekends or overnight shifts to meet client needs.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.
- Preferred: Background in Aviation or Mechanical Engineering.
Experience
- Previous engineering experience within the aviation industry is highly desirable, with a focus on airline support, structural repairs, MRO, liaison/MRB engineering, or related fields.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Structural Analysis: Capable of conducting structural analysis to substantiate both major and minor aircraft repairs.
- Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).
- Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with customers and internal teams.
- Technical Data: Familiarity with OEM technical data (Engineering Drawings, Structural Repair Manuals, etc.) for developing repair schemes.
