Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and motivated Senior Team Leader in Quality Engineering to join our team in Bloomfield, CT. Kamatics, the largest division of Kaman, is looking for someone to join our team to lead and mentor a team of Quality Engineers to drive continuous improvement, manage quality control initiatives, and maintain compliance to internal and external standards, establishing and documenting best practices when applicable. This person will be responsible for collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including design, production, and supply chain, to identify quality issues, implement corrective actions, and optimize manufacturing practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead Quality Engineers to support increased performance of KPI’s (Scrap reduction & OEE).
- Advance SPC implementation at point of use. Develop procedures/methods to analyze data, evaluating machine/process capability and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support Quality Engineers to prevent non-conformances and reduce product variation through machine capability analysis, standard measurement plans, implementation of advanced gaging and sampling methodology. Evaluate effectiveness via statistical analysis.
- Collaborate with Lead Inspector to identify and pursue new gaging and inspection strategies, improving inspection efficiency and throughput.
- Collaborate with Supplier Quality and Quality Engineers to reduce supplier nonconformances.
- Work with Production Engineers to standardize part family, support improved in process inspection, implement strategic in-process inspection operations to satisfy customer quality requirements.
- Coach and develop Quality Engineers to lead effective root cause investigations on internal or external non-conformances. This may include 8D, 5 Why, fault tree, fishbone, or other similar methodologies to find the true root cause of problem.
- Facilitate the implementation of effective corrective actions addressing process deficiencies.
- Use experience related to machining processes (multi-axis machines, grinders, CNC type of lathes and milling machines, and bagging equipment) combined with quality & BP requirements to make recommendations to improve processes.
- Draft and update QMS procedures as needed.
- Aid in the interpretation of industry and customer specifications.
- Maintains clean and safe work environment. Follows safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Reports safety incidents to supervisor.
- Makes continuous improvement recommendations.
- Provides a high level of service to all internal and external customers. Contributes to positive teamwork environment. Work and communicate effectively between various departments.
- Performs other duties as assigned. Participates in training/learning other positions. Accomplishes related results as needed.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Engineering/Quality or equivalent experience.
Experience: 5 years of experience in a Manufacturing/Quality engineering function. Previous leadership experience preferred.
