Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for a Quality Engineer II in the Manufacturing department based in Mobile, AL
The Quality Engineer is responsible for eradicating aircraft manufacturing/technical non-conformances and customer snags, having direct tangible impact on reducing the Cost of Non-Quality, and growing both internal and external airline customer satisfaction. The Quality Engineer will facilitate and contribute to fast reaction root cause analysis investigations into reported quality problems from the business and airline customers, to ensure the appropriate containment, corrective, and preventative actions are identified and then implemented by the multifunctional teams (MFTs).

Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. Your challenges:Analysis of aircraft manufacturing and technical non-conformances and customer snags to identify repetitive and impactful problems within your perimeter (station/MFT) and provide mentorship to other Quality Engineers in the team.
Orchestrate practical problem solving root cause investigations of low to medium complexity with the MFT, to rapidly identify root cause and containment actions (including line checks and Customer Protection Boards), within your perimeter (station/MFT).
Application of Quality standards including APQP, FMEA, KC/CTI, Control Plans, Metrology/MSA, Process Capability/SPC, PPS/9S, within your perimeter (station/MFT).
Support FOD prevention initiatives and measures, within your perimeter (station/MFT).
Creation of high quality presentations to communicate investigations, MFTs, management, and customers.
Creation of Quality flash alerts/memos to alert MFTs of Quality topics.
Work with Supply Chain organization to feedback supplier driven non-conformities and quality escapes.
Contribute to supplier First Article Inspections, and provide feedback.
Support airline Customer Delivery MFT to present Quality topics to airline representatives.
Participate in the development and improvement of processes at the SMS level.
Lead and train SMS representatives in problem solving methodology.
Ensure alignment to the various milestones in the SMS and SARI processes.
Participate and lead various follow-ups with the safety network.
Represent the Mobile site for the A220 at the global Airbus Product Safety/SMS level and with senior management reviews.
Participate in the SARI production panel.
Conduct risk related investigations using various problem solving tools.
Your boarding pass:Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical/Industrial Engineering or similar field, or equivalent experience is required.
Required: Minimum 5 years’ experience in Manufacturing / Quality / Lean Management / Quality Inspection or similar subject area, preferably with an international aerospace company in aircraft manufacturing.
Familiar with lean methodologies and processes.
Knowledge of rules for aircraft design and manufacturing preferred.
Strong and effective Practical Problem Solving skills (PPS), and ability to advise and facilitate PPS, and supervise progress to completion.
KPI and Pareto understanding.
Knowledge of FOD and product safety processes preferred.
High degree of flexibility and initiative.
Strong communication skills through all levels of the organization and functions.
Strong presentation skills.
Ability to independently develop, communicate, and recommend change to processes and procedures.
