We are looking for a Quality Engineer II to work onsite in our Largo, FL location.

The Quality Engineer II will provide support to ensure compliance with contractual, company, and regulatory requirements. Apply Engineering skills to develop and deploy effective and efficient methods for verifying and accepting processes and products, including the use of quantitative and qualitative tools. Use analytical tools and methods to improve product quality, minimize inspection and manufacturing problems.

This is a full time, 100 on site position and requires US Citizenship.

What you will do:

  • Assure hardware products and associated test equipment meet quality requirements within schedule and cost

  • Plan and implement key process controls to assure “built-in” quality

  • Provide program team with analyses of the performance of the program’s processes against performance requirements and quality of products against customer quality requirements.

  • Perform First Article Inspections in accordance with AS9102 requirements

  • Perform Process Failure Modes & Effects Analysis on processes and products to prevent product defects and mitigate risk 

  • Assure configuration management is implemented and maintained, including reviewing and concurring with work product changes and releases

  • Develop product acceptance techniques and plans 

  • Lead and support factory and product process improvements 

  • Lead and support root cause and corrective action activities 

  • Lead and support layered process assessments

  • Review and approve all manufacturing, inspection and test procedures, instructions and standard operating plans

  • Support Mission Assurance requirements for an electronic assembly and integration area with high product mix where review and quality disposition of products is essential

  • Interface with customer source inspection representatives

  • Act on all applicable material, product and equipment alerts to prevent impact to product reliability using the nonconformance and/or purge process 

  • Complete data preparation, analyses and reporting

  • Manage dropped and damaged hardware processing and incident reporting

  • Must be able to travel periodically (up to 20) to support customer, company and program requirements

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Demonstrated competency in the application of the personal computer to complete assignments, including skills with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Access, MS Project, etc.

  • Must be an independent contributor with minimal required supervision.

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Current/Active US Security Clearance

  • J-STD-001 knowledge

  • Experience with AS9100 Quality Management systems

  • Experience with AS9102 First Article requirements

  • Practical experience of Six Sigma, Lean, 5S methodologies (e.g. Kaizen, Lean)

  • Statistical Process Control (SPC), Capability Analysis

  • Design of Experiments (DOE), and Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) 

  • Experience in aerospace-related manufacturing environment 

  • American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Engineer Certification

The salary range for this role is 64,000 USD - 128,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
