POSITION SUMMARY

  • Influence and support development of aircraft Interior and airframe components based on substantiation of sheet metal, composites and aircraft structural designs to produce the lightest weight solutions for Executive and Commercial Aircraft Interiors.
  • Understanding of sheet metal, composites and honeycomb panels for cabinetry and airframe design. Support the Product Development Engineering team to produce the lightest weight solutions for Executive and Commercial Aircraft Interiors.
  • Support the Product Development Engineering teams with respect to market, product, and certification requirements in order to guarantee adherence to quality as well as the overall program cost and schedule goals.
  • Stress analyst capable of performing Static, Fatigue and Damage Tolerance, and dynamic seat analysis for modifications to aircraft structure and component assemblies.

JOB RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Stress analyst capable of performing Static, Fatigue and Damage Tolerance analysis for modifications and repairs to aircraft structure. Perform mostly hand calculations using applied loads or equivalent strength methods to determine repair margins of safety. Experience generating spring models, lug analysis, beam analysis et. Al. required. Ability to compile analytical results into a report format for customer review and approval. Candidate must be able to provide technical guidance to design engineers in the design and substantiation of aircraft product developments.
  • Responsible for the structural validation of the aircraft primary and secondary components and structure. Perform analysis of primary and secondary structures for metallic and non-metallic parts as well as writing certification reports.
  • Support the development of executive and commercial aircraft interior and structural engineering packages by validating the structural integrity of the components.
  • Ensure project related engineering data is in compliance with corporate policies and certification requirements
  • Work in either the serialized production or the aftermarket modifications environment;
  • Support preparation of technical specifications for procurement process;
  • Conduct technical meetings/discussions with suppliers, and evaluate technical information (specifications, drawings, reports, tests) provided for every component/part, to verify compliance to structural requirements;
  • Designs and implements certification plans and conduct technical discussions with certification authorities (ANAC, FAA, EASA, etc);
  • Prepares technical reports to show compliance with applicable certification requirements;
  • Performs RIG/Mock-up/Aircraft tests;
  • Supports investigation on production line or at MROs of issues and defines corrective actions,
  • Supports investigation on fleet issues and define corrective actions
  • Establishes and maintains simulated environments and perform tests and analyses of prototype assemblies.
  • Guarantee the correct interface between interiors and/or airframe installations and other areas, manufacture/maintenance and assembly processes.
  • Ensure project related engineering data is in compliance with corporate policies and certification requirements.
  • Applies technical principles, theories and concepts to solve a wide range of challenging engineering problems.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Education:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field or equivalent work experience.

Experience:

  • Prior executive or commercial aviation as a structural engineer/analyst and aftermarket modifications (Supplemental Type Certificates and Service Bulletins).
  • Experience in qualification and certification of a structural assemblies during all phases of development is preferred.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in related discipline.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • The successful candidates will be energetic; driven; able to work independently and in a team; and able to work/guide completion of projects.
  • Ability to perform static analysis
  • Familiarity or ability to perform fatigue and damage tolerance using NASGRO
  • Familiarity with pre and post processor software (FEMAP, HyperWorks, and PATRAN) with MSC NASTRAN solver.
  • Familiarity with design optimization software (Altair INSPIRE)
  • Knowledge and ability to perform classical static hand calculations based on accepted references
  • Knowledge and experience in building complex finite element models for stress analyses with an understanding of load applications, boundary conditions, modeling techniques and results.
  • Knowledge of aircraft stress analysis methods and basic structural design criteria
  • Familiarity with CATIA V5--Understanding of drawing practices, material properties, and manufacturing processes
  • Understanding of mechanics of solids, materials, and composites
  • Able to write reports to pass through certification
  • Ability to become involved in a number of projects in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of aircraft primary and secondary structure manufacturing, installation, and certification
  • Proficient computer skills with use of Microsoft office applications
  • High attention to detail, self-starter and results driven.

  • Familiarity with Type Certification and Supplemental Type Certification processes.
  • Comprehension, understanding and execution of broad practices associated within the field assigned and related fields.
  • Applies these understandings in the completion of complex work assignments.
  • Role requires application of advanced skills attained via greater years of experience towards solving complex issues and problems.
  • May act as Project Representative from immediate group they are assigned to in the resolution of problems/issues encountered across multiple functions which require a coordinated response.
  • Impact within job and their department based on their work responsibilities begins to regularly extend to certain other functional groups within the organization.

  • Work experience in Supplemental Type Certificate environment is a plus.
