Job Description

This job is for a Systems Engineer for the LM2500 engine line.  The LM2500 is an industrial and marine variant of the aircraft engine CF6-80C2 that has been modified for to power oil & gas and electrical applications. The Senior Staff Engineer - Systems Engineer will be the engineering leader for LM2500 programs validation and test planning and execution to support new product introduction as well as legacy fleet, cost out, reliability improvements, engine delivery and root cause investigations of field issues. You will be responsible for establishing product validation and test requirements, developing test engineering plans, also you will be leading engineering teams through execution of owed projects. This includes the engine level engineering integration and customer communications (both internal as well as external).

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Conducts component and product integration.
  • All activities that span multiple components and products and are concerned with how to integrate for maximum performance and operability.
  • Manages product and systems requirements, specifications and flow down.
  • Drives validation and verification activities for the overall product/system, including system level testing.
  • Responsible for defining product requirements for the module / component / subcontractors and partners teams.
  • Manages interface between components and execution organizations.
  • Responsible for driving CTQ / Risk trades within the teams designing the components.
  • Manages the overall product configuration and configuration control system.
  • Requires specialized knowledge within the function.
  • Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
  • Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services.
  • Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work.
  • Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering.
  • Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders.
  • Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations.
  • Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
  • May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity.
  • Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others options on particular topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Systems Engineering
