Morson are recruiting an ME Industrial Assembly Engineer (Night Shift) to join one of our advanced manufacturing clients at their Broughton site. This role is offered on a contract basis until December 2026, with a strong likelihood of extension.
The ME Industrial Assembly Engineer will join the Assembly Technologies function, supporting the development, deployment, and continuous improvement of drilling and fastening equipment and processes used in complex wing manufacturing operations.
This is a hands‑on, shop‑floor‑focused engineering role requiring strong technical expertise, stakeholder engagement, and project delivery capability.
Role Overview
The ME Industrial Assembly Engineer will apply manufacturing engineering and project management expertise to research, define, and deliver new technologies and improvements within an industrial assembly environment. The role focuses on manual and semi‑automated drilling and fastening processes, supporting both existing production equipment and future manufacturing capability.
Working closely with manufacturing operations, support functions, and suppliers, the role plays a critical part in maintaining productivity, quality, safety, and cost effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy and support manual and semi‑automated drilling and fastening equipment
- Define new equipment requirements and develop new assembly processes
- Provide ongoing technical support to manufacturing operations and existing machinery
- Lead and deliver continuous improvement (CI) and EHS projects
- Manage and support capital investment projects, ensuring delivery to cost, quality, and schedule
- Develop, document, and embed productivity improvements across assembly processes
- Provide methods and process engineering support to the operations team
- Interface with internal customers, support functions, transnational counterparts, and external suppliers
- Lead and participate in multi‑functional project teams
Skills & Experience
- Strong technical background in shop‑floor manufacturing processes
- Proven experience with drilling and/or fastening processes
- Good understanding of wing build or complex structural assembly processes
- Experience supporting production equipment in a live manufacturing environment
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability
- Comfortable working cross‑functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and support teams
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Organised, detail‑focused, and self‑motivated
- Competent using Google Workspace tools (Sheets, Slides, Gmail, etc.)
- Fluent English at a technical and professional level
Desirable
- Aerospace or high‑integrity manufacturing experience
- Exposure to semi‑automated assembly equipment (e.g. ADU / ABE)
- Experience delivering CI or capital projects in manufacturing
- Engineering degree or equivalent industry experience

- Monday to Thursday, 20:45 – 06:00
- 30 night shift allowance
