What You Will Do:

The primary role of the Engineering Intern is to provide assistance to the members of the engineering department and support special process department personnel. The Engineering Intern will be involved in creating special process technique sheets, submit suggested repairs to customers, process corrective actions, and perform other tasks assigned by engineering.

  • Draw and modify drawings in AutoCAD including bushings and repair sketches
  • Draft technique sheets for electroplating, shot peen and NDT
  • Track Salvage Report Documents (SRDs)
  • Create Prime, Paint and Plating sketches
  • Complete Condition Report sketches
  • Design, alter and reverse engineer tooling
  • Complete, log and submit Engineering Letters to airline customers
  • Perform corrective actions

What You Will Learn:

  • Learn about applied research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines. 
  • Learn test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess operating condition effects. Produce parts, designs, or sketches for machines, components, systems or work orders / purchase requests.
  • Learn and translate system produced documents, designs, diagrams and technological representations

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelors or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status) as defined here: https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-120/subpart-C/section-120.62

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Completion of two years in a university/college in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering program or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with current office software (Word, Excel, Acrobat)
  • Good organization, communication and documentation skills are a must
  • Excellent teamwork and problem solving skills. Detail oriented.
  • Ability to interpret complex mechanical blueprints.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Adobe Photoshop
  • Knowledge of machine shop, plating and manufacturing methods preferred

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products. Must be a commutable distance to Opa Locka, FL to work an onsite schedule. This position may be eligible for relocation.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
