Job overview and responsibilities
Responsible for supporting all network infrastructure, including but not limited to switches, routers, load balancers, firewalls, Wan Optimization devices and wireless infrastructure. GNOC team member will need to be able to handle all incidents, problem and change management tickets that are for network related issues. Individual will need to interface with our network-related suppliers and vendors. Maintains 24x7 operation and ensures production availability of network infrastructure.
- Monitoring network performance, availability, and reliability using tools such as HP NNMi, Thousand
- Eyes, Cisco Tetration (Secure Workload) and packet analyzers
- Identifying and resolving performance
- issues, optimizing network configurations and ensuring quality of service (QOS)
- Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution – Identifying and resolving network related issues including connectivity problems, latency issues, and packet loss
- This includes analyzing network logs, packet captures and collaborating with other teams to troubleshoot complex issues
- Incident & Change Management – Individual must have excellent communication skills to handle incident bridge calls and communicate health of the network infrastructure related to the associated incident
- They also must follow the established change management processes around the network infrastructure and enforce them with other teams questioning the process
- They must assess the impact of the proposed changes, obtain approvals and ensure change are coordinated and communicated to all concerned parties
- Network Implementation and Configuration – Work with technicians in the field to replace failed hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, and access points
- Documentation – Maintain accurate diagrams, procedures and configurations that team has been involved with the implementation
- Assure tools have been updated and necessary hardware maintenance contracts have been applied to the new or replaced devices
