We are a world leader in wireless communications networking, with products such as high-data-rate HF/VHF/UHF modems and the Self Configuring Relay Network (SCRN) for ad-hoc wireless networks. Collins Aerospace is developing the next generation of HF radios that support significant throughput improvements and ad-hoc networking features, as well as developing Software Defined Radio networking waveforms for customers around the world.
What You Will Do
- Performs engineering work and applied research, development, and design for new products to ensure quality standards and functional objectives are met.
- Troubleshoots electrical devices problems to ensure that issues are resolved efficiently.
- Resolves day-to-day technical problems within production environment to minimize disruption.
- Participates in technical preparations for new product development and implementation to ensure new products meet the required specifications.
- Operates computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
- Completes drawing designs as required to facilitate the engineering process.
- Confers with engineers, customers, vendors and other stakeholders on existing and potential engineering projects or products.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years prior relevant experience or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience
- Must either hold or be eligible for a Government of Canada Secret Level Security Clearance and Controlled Goods Access.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience in using Linux and DOS operating systems;
- Knowledgeable in networking and wireless communication protocols such as TCP, RTP, VoIP
- Knowledgeable in the hardware product lifecycle including definition, requirement analysis and design, implementation, validation and support.
- CAD skills using OrCAD or Mentor Graphics based tools;
- FPGA skills in Verilog or VHDL would be an asset;
- Relational database experience would be an asset.
- Strong communication skills are required, both oral and written;
- Detail oriented with strong analytical skills;
- Good team working ability and self-motivated with a desire to learn.
