JOB OVERVIEW
Are you ready to make an impact and elevate our Centre for Excellence to new heights? As the Communications and Community Engagement Coordinator, you will be at the forefront of driving our mission and visibility. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this role is key to shaping and executing a dynamic marketing and communications strategy that strengthens our brand, attracts new audiences, and builds lasting relationships within the community and beyond. You&39;ll work cross-functionally to engage both internal and external stakeholders, sparking innovation in how we connect, communicate, and grow.
LOCATION
This role will be hybrid with some days working at our Centre for Excellence Building. Flexible hours are required for various events.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Content Creation and Media
- Manage a robust content calendar and craft engaging blog articles, newsletters, press releases, and social media content that resonates with our audiences and brings new and returning visitors to the CFE. Manage multiple channels and engage with our very active and interested stakeholder base.
- Serve as the primary photographer/videographer for the CFE – taking engaging photos and video on a daily basis and managing larger photo/video shoots with 3rd parties.
- Coordinate media relations for the CFE including preparing press releases, media alerts and industry announcements; keep local and national media informed and prep the Executive Director for media engagements.
- Manage the KF Centre for Excellence website, ensuring it is current, engaging, and reflective of our brand’s mission and events. Things change fast so you’ll have to be ready to make updates on a dime.
- Plan and execute compelling PR initiatives to extend our reach and create memorable experiences for our visitors.
- Write, develop, edit, and proof a variety of articles, memos, formal and informal documents to ensure all internal and external communications are aligned with the CFE’s strategy.
Marketing and Outreach
- Develop captivating digital, print and other marketing materials and creative and oversee their distribution.
- Spearhead direct marketing campaigns for special events, expanding our community connections in order to drive engagement with our visitor numbers and target event partners.
- Conduct insightful market research to understand our audience and refine our outreach strategies and the local and national level.
Event and Community Relations
- Represent the Centre at key in house events and potentially in community settings. Capture and share real-time social media content that highlights our Centre’s story and engagement.
- Plan and oversee branded material development, from presentations to trade show materials, to enhance our presence and brand identity.
- Administer the CFE’s stakeholder relationships management system.
- Help plan and execute tours for VIPS.
Collaborative Internal Communication
- Create meaningful internal communications that bridge gaps and improve information flow within the organization.
- Assist in organizing special events and fostering an inclusive, informed workplace culture.
- Implement the tools and processes that will help foster better collaboration internally.
- Assist the Executive Director and other staff on communication objectives including presentations, speeches, video and digital content.
This is a new position to the organization therefore specific duties and responsibilities may change as the role evolves and becomes embedded into the organization.
REQUIREMENTS
- Communications Degree or Business Degree with Communications Major or five years of related experience and/or training. Equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred
- Proven writing and editing skills (must provide examples); Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Must have experience managing websites & social media for a business, organization or non-profit
- Experience with graphic design including Canva, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Acrobat, Publisher, Premiere and Photoshop would be considered an asset
- Experience taking and editing photos
- Ability to work flexible hours as required

SALARY
The salary range for this role is within $60K to $70K annually.
