BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, chemical, or aerospace engineering
- 4+ years of hands-on experience working with fluid systems in a professional setting (internships qualify)
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Advanced degree in mechanical, aerospace, or chemical engineering
- Degree in chemical engineering
- Strong working knowledge of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and process engineering
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and operating cryogenic fluid systems
- Experience in the filtration and distillation of liquid gases including liquid air and liquid natural gas
- Experience with cryogenic systems in maritime environments
- CAD capability for 3D Modeling (NX, SolidWorks, etc.)
- Knowledge of engineering standards and best practices
- Knowledge of safety protocols for handling, storage, and transportation of cryogenic propellants in accordance with industry standards
- Experience operating and troubleshooting control systems required for remote operations
- Experience commissioning and or plant operation (LNG, ASU, He)
- Able to work well in an integrated collaborative team environment including daily interactions with technicians, engineers, and managers
- Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
- Self-motivated and directed with keen attention to detail
- Passion for advancing the commercial space industry and human spaceflight
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team of talented and driven engineers
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral or Vandenberg
- Occasionally exposed to work in extreme outdoor environments- heat, cold, rain
- Work performed in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise
- Must be willing to travel to other launch sites in support of build and operational activities and launches; travel requirement is up to 15%
- Availability to work extended hours and weekends as needed; flexibility is required
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Chemical Process Engineer/Level I: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00/per year
Chemical Process Engineer/Level II: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00/per year
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
