The Position

As an FAA Certified 145 Repair Station, Hillsboro Aviation supports comprehensive maintenance and avionics needs. From privately owned airplanes and helicopters to corporate fleet management, we serve private, commercial, and government interests. Our full-service location supports avionics, unscheduled and scheduled services, heavy maintenance, and AOG emergencies. Our factory-trained mechanics and avionics technicians boast an average of over 20 years of experience.

As an Avionics Technician you will work closely with the Service Center team to install and maintain avionics equipment for customer and Hillsboro Aviation owned aircrafts. You will report to the Service Center Avionics Manager and will be responsible for the following, including but not limited to:

  • Installation of new avionics equipment in Part 23 airplanes and Part 27 helicopters.
  • Troubleshooting and repair of installed avionics systems in customers owned aircraft
  • Maintaining avionics systems in Hillsboro Aviation owned airplanes and helicopters

Ideal candidates are able to work independently within his/her areas of responsibilities under limited supervision, value a strong work ethic and optimistic attitude, maintain a critical eye for detail and organization, and are excited to represent Hillsboro Aviation in front of key customers, including foreign governments, community leaders, and business partners.

Job Responsibilities

  • Installation of new avionics equipment in Part 23 airplanes and Part 27 helicopters.
  • Troubleshooting and repair of installed avionics systems in customers owned aircraft
  • Maintaining avionics systems in Hillsboro Aviation owned airplanes and helicopters
  • Maintaining the avionics shop in a clean and organized manner
  • Be a problem solver and constructively offer new ideas
  • Adhering to FAA Part 145 Repair Station practices
  • Be able to effectively communicate with other employees, and customers
  • Present a positive professional attitude and appearance
  • Constant variation in dealing with new technology avionics as well as legacy equipment
  • Flexibility in work schedule
  • Potential travel on short notice for a limited duration

Qualifications/Licenses

  • FCC – General Radio Telephone Operators License
  • NCATT – Aircraft Electronics Technician Certification (recommended)
  • Graduate from an Aviation Electronics training school or program

Required Skills/Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience with avionics installations and repair of avionics systems in general aviation aircraft
  • Experience with avionics systems in single and multi-engine airplanes and helicopters
  • Experience with Garmin, Bendix-King, ARC, S-Tec, Avidyne, Sandel, and Chelton Avionics systems

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • System integration experience
  • FAA Repairman’s Certificate or eligibility
  • A&P license
  • FAA pilot’s license
  • Strong computer skills. Experienced with Microsoft Office and computer-aided drafting.
