Role Introduction
Reports to: Head of Passenger Network
The role sits within our Planning (PLN) department with the goal to optimize our aircraft and slot assets to build a network which will become our competitive edge. The team devotes their focus on scoping out new routes and developing hubs, to investing in aircraft and developing schedules. Our customer are at the heart of the way we are strengthening our network.
As the Passenger Network Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting the Passenger Network Manager in evaluating and refining the Cathay Pacific passenger network to drive system-wide route profitability. You will be collaborating with cross-functional teams to analyse spanet trends, assess passenger demand and develop strategic recommendations to improve network performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Review profitability of existing routes in portfolio to support network development recommendations on a regular basis, including:
- Identify trends in profitability;
- Investigate drivers for changes, such as spanet changes, competition, macro-economic changes; and,
- Propose opportunities to develop and improve profitability.
- Identify opportunities for network development by comparing new scenarios with established base cases.
- Identify spanets and opportunities in Greater Bay Area (GBA), reviewing and suggesting enhancements to intermodal connections in GBA with relevant teams.
- Support in studies and implementation of new destinations, resumptions, schedule and capacity changes with Revenue Management department and relevant departments.
- Lead studies of government policies of China, including CAAC policies, national develop policies as well as aviation policies.
- Coordinate with colleagues in Planning (PLN) and other departments to address operational issues in routing, timing, crew pattern and maintenance schedule etc.
- Recommend timing and frequency changes in seasonal slot filing.
- Coordinate with Revenue Management, Cargo Planning, Short-Term teams on seasonal capacity rationalisation.
- Monitor the routes’ operation cost items, coordinate with PLN Systems team to ensure a right reporting of routes performance.
- Support development and implementation of digital planning tools with PLN, IT and Digital colleagues, such as demand forecasting tool and schedule optimizer.
- Support long-term network studies and ad hoc projects as needed.
Requirements
- Holder of a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in an airline or in a similar role preferred.
- Good analysis, problem solving and commercial acumen.
- Proficient with data and numbers.
- Possess good communication and teamwork skills.
- Demonstrate continuous improvement.
- Is prepared to take ownership and accountability of issues.
